Portraits & Headshots in St. Louis
A good portrait isn't a performance. It's the twenty seconds after someone stops performing.
Most people arrive at a portrait session slightly braced for it. That's normal, and it's most of the job — not lighting, not lenses, but getting past the first ten minutes to the face underneath the one people put on for cameras. I talk, I keep shooting, and I don't ask anyone to hold a pose they wouldn't hold in life.
Headshots are the same craft on a shorter clock. You need two or three frames that look like you on a good day and work at thumbnail size on LinkedIn. That's achievable in half an hour, and I'd rather do it well and quickly than sell you an afternoon.
The film option
I shoot medium format film alongside digital, developed here in town at Schiller's. It's slower and there are fewer frames, and that's the point — film portraits have a quality of attention that's difficult to fake. If you want it, it's an add-on to a standard session.
Pricing
Professional headshot — 20 to 30 minutes, 3 edited images. $250.
Mini session — 20 to 30 minutes, 10 edited images. $275.
Standard session — 45 minutes to an hour, 20 to 25 edited images. $500.
Standard session with film — medium format, developed locally. $750.
Team headshot station — on-site at your office, six people minimum, 2 edited images each. $125 per person.
Doing a whole team? The on-site station is the efficient way — I set up in a conference room and work through everyone in a morning.
Not sure which one you need? Tell me what the picture is for and I'll point you to the right session.
