February & March, Stray Shoots

A few more images from the January snowfall. These few were taken late January or early February. Because of the deep cold that set in the snow hung around and compacted, and seemingly fused into a new form of ice.

Sledding at Art Hill is a beloved pastime for St. Louisans, on the usually rare chance we see snow. Often enough, though, that I saw several out with serious looking toboggans of all sorts.

This was a snowfall later in February after the previous storm finally cleared. I went out driving in it just to see what I could see as I figured it would be the last of the year and snapped this one. It’s a statue at the church on Boyle just south of Manchester.

Musket fire from marching colonials, go carts and race cars roaring. All along the parade route families set up tents and barbecued. There was also a dusty haze in the air from dust clouds kicked up by droughts further west and it was

It ran from 8th to 22nd. I loved it! I noticed that I felt a bit out of practice in terms of ‘getting the shot,’ when it came to raising the lens up close when a moment or two called for it. But the days are getting longer and I’ve missed this, missed random photography adventures and spending much of my evenings and weekends outside, and I’m looking forward to season 2 of it. I’m going to try to expand a bit this year beyond just shooting events and neighborhoods and try to incorporate some more focussed shoots. I enjoyed getting to do a behind-the-scenes shoot for Ramen Republic in Oaxaca and businesses might be one such avenue to explore. Anyway it’s nice to be find myself getting back into a rhythm with it.
